...What is this?.....u must be wondering.....what the hell is there to compare between these two films...they are not even remotely same ......sholay is kind of a fairy tale.....Rang De....a masterstroke from Rakesh Omprakash Mehra (atleast by me)....After saying this i want to write about Rang De Basanti.....but if i start on this topic i will be writing volumes ...now i don't want to do that....people who didnot see this movie still ...please watch it....
Now coming to my topic...well , its just a thought but , i feel the director and the script writor had sholay in their mind while characterizing these 5 characters....well atleast 4 of them..if u watch closely....
DJ (aamir khan) + Sukhi (Sharman Joshi) = Veeru (Dharmendra)
Karan(Siddarth) + Aslam(Kunal Kapoor) = Jai (Amitabh)
DJ and Sukhi are the fun loving ....DJ flirting with Sue....
Karan and Aslam , more quiet and serious.....
the entrance of DJ and sukhi....drinking standing over a high monument
Veeru's best scene in sholay....standing on a water tank ... drinking and threatening to jump
Karan's first dialogue 'Nautanki saala'
Jai's dialogue 'ghadi ghadi drama karta hai saala'
now if we start looking in this point of view u will find few more similarities..but the things told above are obvious (i think)...

Nice to read your "thoughts"...
Anyway, I liked the movie Sholay very very much (can say it rocks..!) but I really got inspired by the characters (not by the movie) & same feeling for RDB too...

tiger...if u see this way...u will get 100s of movies on the same concepts...what i meant to say here is that ....i feel these characters are sketched basically with jai and veeru in mind....
